While camping along the Long Beach Peninsula last summer, we took a day trip to Oysterville. Our first stop was to eat a delicious bowl of oyster chowder at Oysterville Sea Farms on the deck overlooking Willapa Bay.
We then set out to explore the tiny town established in 1854 as a hub for oyster farming. We walked past charming historic houses, cottages and the school house.
Before we could leave town, I had to draw this sketch while sitting on a log, with oyster shells on the ground beneath my feet. This was the first building I’d noticed at the place where we’d eaten our lunch. It was a beautiful summer day and the sun was casting this dramatic shadow across the building. I just had to capture this lovely scene!
