While attending the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend, Washington few years back, I met my artist friend one day to sketch the scenes there. This sketch of the Marina Office, and distant Cupola House is my favorite sketch of the day. This fabulous three day event is the second largest Wooden Boat Festival in the world, where wooden boats are the main focus. Boats range in size from small row boats, sailing crafts, power boats to large sailing ships and schooners. Events are held throughout the festival, including a chance to hear speakers talk about their adventures traveling around the islands, abroad or around the world. One tent provides opportunity for wood workers to use their skills to build their own crafts and enter a contest for the best boat of the week. This sketch reminds me of the many years that we have attended and enjoyed this festival.
