It was a beautiful sunny morning to sketch this historic building. Our Bellingham Urban Sketchers group is doing several “pop-up” events this summer. The focus will be historic buildings in Bellingham, beginning with the Firehouse Café in Fairhaven. I sat across the street with another sketcher and two other sketchers are in view under the umbrella in this sketch.
The 1927 Historic Firehouse on Harris Avenue and 14th Street (formerly Bellingham Fire Department Station #2) remained active as a fire station until 2001. It was then purchased and turned into a coffee shop, café and event center. It is a very popular place for locals to enjoy.
